Koha për NISMA të reja!
This international seminar, hosted by our partner organisation Nisma Arsis in Tirana from the 18th to the 25th of September, brought together 35 youth workers from 16 countries.
‘Koha për NISMA të reja’ is Albanian and means ‘Time for new initiative’. The word ‘reja’ can also be translated to young, and the word ‘nisma’ to ‘starts’. Well, then a new start through young initiatives! The title expresses the objective of the project to support empowerment and engagement of young people in their communities through the qualification of youth organisations in the field of civic education.
We were discussing topics such as: how can civic education be practically implemented in youth work, especially when working with disadvantaged groups? How can these two fields, youth work and civic education, support each other’s aims and benefit from each other?
The project encourages us to reflect critically on our existing and planned educational practices: are they respectful of young people’s needs and wishes? Which support do youth workers and youth organisations need in order to be able to implement good, participative and sustainable civic education?programme_Albania_2021_web
